Want to get a new copy of Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits? Be sure you’re not getting it for your Nintendo DSi because it doesn’t work with it! It does come with an adapter so you can use it with the DS or DS Lite it doesn’t include any way of using the Guitar Grip controller with the newer DSi. If you try it you’ll just get the following message: You can’t rock without a Guitar Hero Guitar Grip! Turn off the power and insert the Guitar Grip.” It’s a rare case but it sucks nonetheless, what point is there to get the new DSi if games for the DS don’t work for it? There is a small disclaimer on the box that states that the game works on the “DS and DS Lite” but it should have stated that it did not work with the DSi as well.
Our favorite anti-hero Max Payne has changed quite a bit since the last sequel in 2003. The new issue of Game Informer Magazine has 10 pages of all the juicy details on the upcoming sequel, some stand out details are listed here:
In addition to being bald and bearded, Max is addicted to pain killers, he also kind of resembles a bald Sam Fischer from Splinter Cell
Nintendo showed off a few colors for the original Wii back in 2006, but ever since all we’ve had was white, until now. Nintendo recently announced that they will be releasing a black-colored Wii in Japan on August 1st for $260. Nintendo will also release Wii peripherals in black as well. A Black Wii remote will go for $40, Black Nunchakus for $19 and Black Classic Controller Pros for $21. Unfortunatly no news regarding a Black Wii from Nintend for the US market was announced. We’re sure once they do well in Japan Nintendo will have to bring em over to the US and cash in.
- Have you ever needed access to a file on your computer but your not at home, dont you wish there was a way to attain those important documents while away. Well with the new My Book World Edition Network Hard Drive you can. Here are a few notable specs on this tech.
This is yet another hard drive that connects to your home network and streams media to your Xbox or PC and it’s pretty easy to set up
First, connect an Ethernet cord to your router
Then, power it up
You have to install software, which is an extra step that we didn’t have to do with other hard drives
The software is really self-explanatory and maps out the network hard drive automatically to Windows
It’s then ready for normal hard drive operation in My Computer
Western Digital did make it easy to access your media through iTunes or your Xbox, but making sure you have the right codecs when you want to play stuff is a real pain in the ass
One extra feature they included was access to your hard drive anywhere in the world using the internet
You’ll first need to sign up for a MioNet account, which is the internet service Western Digital uses
Whenever you power up the hard drive, it automatically starts up the MioNet service, so you don’t really have to do anything extra
You’ll also need Java to make all of this work, but once you get into the applet, copying files is simple
MioNet works for Mac or PC
You can’t access files thru MioNet if you’re on the same local network as the hard drive, and the interface can get a little bogged down at times since it’s Java
- I own a My Book external hard drive and I definatly recomend this to anyone who wants to free up space on there PC and with the added network accessibility when out and about this is a definite life saver.
Yutaka Kubota, Japan’s Association of Copyright for Computer Software president stated in an interview that the rampant piracy of Nintendo DS and DSi games can be considered a form of cyber terrorism. The proliferation of these flash carts have enable gamers to download full Nintendo DS games at whim without purchasing them. Kubota attributed the use of Flash carts such as the DSTTi as part of the reason Japan’s economy has been tanking. The video game industry is a huge contributor to the island nation’s success and piracy cuts that profit by a very considerable amount. Could this be the next front on the global war on terrorism?
Nintendo has been dominating the competition all over the world recently with the Wii and DS video game consoles, in almost every market around the world Nintendo is number one. A report in Japan showed that Nintendo was ahead in the Japanese video game market by quite a bit. Not too long ago Nintendo was in a world of hurt but has since turned their company around. Australia is a fairly large market and as expected Nintendo has come out on top down there as well. The Wii Fit is currently the fastest selling game in Austrailia with about half a million copies sold since it was introduced. That’s 520,000 in a year to be exact. Wii Play sold a little more at 569,000 copies but has been out loner, Mario Kart Wii has sold 328,000 copies. Nintendo is well on their way to ruling the video game WORLD.
The Nintendo DS and the new DSi are kings of the handheld gaming war there’s no doubt about that, so what’s become of the Nintendo Game Boy Advance? If you thought it is dead and gone then you’re wrong! But the assumption that it is a dead breed is not a bad one, I haven’t seen a new Game Boy Advance console or game anywhere for quite a long time. But the folks at Kotaku contacted Nintendo HQ about the aging Game Boy Advance and they have a surprising answer for them. Apparantly Nintendo still ships Game Boy Advance consoles to distributors and retailers around the world with about 420,000 units being sold worldwide last year alone. Most of those sales were in Asian and other developing markets were most consumers can’t afford the latest and greatest video game consoles, but the Game Boy is still alive and kicking!
Vail Christian High School in Colorado has come up with a interesting way to teach their students how important it is to not text on your cell phone when driving. They do it with the help of Nintendo’s Wii and the game Mario Kart. Called the “distracted and drowsy driving project” the school along with the Eagle County Sheriff’s Department, the Colorado State Patrol as well as the Eagle Country Fire Fighters helped create the program. In the class the students attempt to drive in the Mario Kart Wii game while text messaging. While Mario Kart for the Wii isn’t the best driving simulator out there, using this new teaching method is definitely a good way to teach students not to drive and text.
Do you remember your first video game console? I remember mine, it was a Super Nintendo Entertainment System, yeah that’s right I’m oldschool! I remember coming home from school everyday and playing it until the late hours of the night. In Japan they start them off young, this baby in Japan (probably about three years old) is playing a Nintendo DS. Yeah that’s right, a Nintendo DS at three years old! I don’t even remember what I was doing at three years old and this kid is playing a touch screen hand held gaming device! How cute is that? Very.
